I hate commercials of any kind on TV. I subscribe to just basic cable mainly because I don’t watch television that much. But when I do watch it I get so tired of all the commercials. Lets go back in time a little… back to when you could watch TV only with the use of an antennae. That was the time for the commercial, since broadcasters had to pay the bills. It was understandable and accepted. Hell you couldn’t complain, because of the commercials, you received free entertainment. But now… cable prices are outrageous and we get even more commercials stuffed down our throats than ever. Something is just not right with this picture.
I made a grave mistake a while back and signed up with one of those consumer survey groups. I was more curious than anything. One of the first surveys I took was to evaluate a commercial and answer a questionnaire relating to the commercial. Me, the guy that hates commercials suffered through one of the worst ever. The commercial was about a popular shaving gel for men. Right at the beginning they went through a small spiel about the product and the rest was romantic music and this really gorgeous woman climbing all over this clean shaven guy.
One of the first questions asked by the survey… How did this commercial make you feel? They asked for it… it made me sick to my stomach and the only thought in my mind was what a bunch of idiots.
Do they really expect…
If I’m a man and watched this commercial, that I would run right out to the drugstore and buy this shaving gel and by golly I’ll get lucky tonight!!
or
If I’m a woman and watched this commercial, I’d run straight to the bathroom fix myself up for an hour or so then run right down to the drugstore hoping to meet Mr. Right buying this particular brand of shaving gel.
