When I first started the website West Virginia Outdoors I had a dog called Sam. You can see pics of her all over the place on my sites. I’ve told the story of how I came to have Sam a few times. Sam was my partner anytime I went to the mountains. I have always been reluctant to get attached to animals because it hurts to loose them. I lost Sam to a motorist… I hadn’t wanted to get another animal since Sam died but going to the woods alone is just not the same. So, it is with great honor I introduce to you my new partner in crime.
This is Jake, future bear killer. Thats what I called Sam too but she would bark at a turtle from ten feet. Jake is a boxer. I felt that it was fate that Jake and I crossed paths. As I said I wasn’t really looking for another puppy but a friend showed up at my door with this one and said, “want a puppy?” They had a litter of nine. How could I say no to a face like that?
I hope to be able to share our adventures as I did with Sam.

I once had a friend that had a boxer that was missing an ear. His name: Evander, of course.
You will find boxers to be loyal and loving, but also as stubborn as a Missouri mule.
Keep us up to date on Jake’s discovery of the world.
