…to solving a mystery. A couple of years ago I found this old postcard while tearing down an old building in the head of Drews Creek.

When I first found this postcard I thought there was something about it that seemed familiar but couldn’t quite put my finger on what it was. I definitely don’t know the people depicted on the card. Yesterday, while thumbing through some old 35mm photos I found this one.
This old house is in the head of Drews Creek. I firmly believe this is where the photo for the postcard was taken. The house has changed a lot since the card but it matches. One thing that has been changed is the siding has been removed back down to the timbers just on the end. The rest of the house has the exact same boards and lapping like the postcard. For those that don’t know, years ago when building a house they would put these 1 to 2 inch boards over the cracks, where the boards met, on the outside wall to help keep out the weather. I believe the photo was taken on this end of the house where the power meter is now. This little piece of property is called The Workmans Farm. Now just to find out who is in the postcard photo. Probably Workmans…
At any rate, I’m one step closer.
This next photo is also of this house but a lot more recent. It is displayed on the Bolt Mountain site. The post entitled As Country As.
On another note, I have a ton of 35mm photos from this area. I’ve always enjoyed taking photos and some of the 35mm ones are pretty cool. I’ll post them on this blog from time to time.
