I love to take photos at night especially when I capture exactly what it is that I see. It is hard to get a good picture at night. I feel like this photo from my front porch tonight is one of the rare good ones. Yes… I just might break my arm patting myself on the back. The conditions were right for this photo. Plus getting to know the features of my new camera helps a little.

Needless to say it is foggy on Bolt Mountain tonight. The inspiration to take this photo didn’t really come from the still but instead it came from what I could create with it. The following thumbnail is a link to a lake applet I created with the photo above. Javascript must be enabled to view the applet and depending on your connection it may take a minute or two to load. But it’s worth it, although my opinion may be somewhat biased.

I like the illusion…very nice Denny! I took a pic while my husband was coming to get me off a deer stand on a bar near the MS River and all you could see was the headlights while the sun was going down. Everything else was total darkness. It turned out pretty cool. You never know what you can get with a night or evening picture. Just do it and you may surprise yourself!

Bravo… Bravo!!!!
I am still in the “dark” when it comes to photography. This picture is really special. You know, it looks like a movie poster for a new blockbuster, “Night Yard”. That last part was a lame attempt at humor.
How’s things at Denny’s place?
