There is no such thing as “friends” in blogging.

I think the internet has added a new definition to the word friend.

Blogging “friends” are like fireflies in a thunderstorm. Here one minute and gone the next.

    How’s that?

This statement actually has multiple meanings. One is that someone you may call a “friend” in the blogging world could just one day quit blogging or quit visiting your blog and then the “friendship” is quickly forgotten.

The other meaning is the people that you do call “friends” and who visit your blog – visit, read, and they move on. Here one minute gone the next.

    I was just making a joke…

Will you be my “friend” Holywriter. :)

  • Steve Adams

No…but I’ll be you’re long-distance colleague. BTW, don’t take me serious, just assume I’m making a joke too. I’m pretty dry.

  • denny

I didn’t take it wrong… I was hoping someone would comment so I could explain the multiple meaning thing, colleague. :)

Well then, I guess I provided a public services. Good karma for me for a week!

  • denny

lol…I’m sure the public will be very appreciative too.

  • denny

Speaking of no longer blogging – Did you quit or move your blog?

Now posting podcasts and vlogs, as well as old-fashioned typing. Spread the word.

  • denny

    I’ll update my links…

This comment to no one in particular… yeah I’m up late with a sore thumb and talking to myself. But after re-reading my first response it does seem rather defensive. Must… work…. on….. communication….. or…. I’ll…. never….. have…..”friends” :)

  • DrowseyMonkey

    lol @ talking to yourself.

I just awarded you…so drop by and pick it up!

  • Steve Adams

Maybe I should make blogging “friends” so I can get awards.

  • denny

    ooops… Drowsey… lol

Holywriter… careful what you wish for. :)

Isn’t weird how you can consider people you’ve never met to be friends. When someone who writes a blog I enjoy stops writing for a while, I worry about them. I celebrate triumphs and tragedies, and yet I wouldn’t know most of these people if I ran into them on the street.

It’s odd when you think about it.

  • denny

Speedcat – all you have to carry are links and awards and things but then again you do have a good blog… hmmmm ok maybe the suitcases aren’t big enough :)

Kristine… thank you… my point exactly. I think it is strange but it’s the nature of some people to befriend people they “meet” every day.
