It’s a scam I get so tired of. I don’t know how many times I’ve won the UK Lottery and various other LARGE cash sums. Or somebody begging for my help using real bad clipped English wanting to transfer a king’s ransom from some third world country. I usually wonder if there is that much money in the whole country.
This is my latest notice of winnings…

I’m not sure how much money that is but I’m sure it’s enough to require a little more fanfare. It also seems that no matter what the announcement or the scam, the person to contact has a Yahoo e-mail address. What’s up with that Yahoo?
I know this, there must be a list going around all crooked people with my name and e-mail on it. My message to them… for probably not the last time, I’m not going to give you my personal information. If I win the lottery in the UK then take part of those winnings and fly your happy ass to my door and tell me personally.
Please, everybody, don’t fall for these scams. These people are the scum of the earth and are looking only to take advantage of you.

OMG. I never noticed that but you are so right about the yahoo addresses. Like any legit entity giving away substantial sums of money wouldn’t have a website (and webaddys) of their own, not to mention the need to have you fill out paperwork that can be notarized.
I do worry about people who fall for such stuff.
Total side note: In Britain, they call the lottery a “self-imposed tax on the stupid”

I kept thinking I should have titled this post something else since this particular scam wasn’t lottery related… most of them are though.
But anyway… I think the same thing as far as the Yahoo address. They are going to give me a million dollars and they are going to use a free web-based e-mail service to conduct their business… uh… ok. Why Yahoo, I wonder.
It may sound silly warning people, but sometimes these crooks can be pretty persuasive.
