The Guyandotte (Bolt) mountain range is located within the Allegheny Plateau Physiographic Province of southern West Virginia.

Ivy Knob is the highest place in the Guyandotte Mountain range (3620 ft.). While this area is composed of many habitat types some of the tree species occurring here include: poplars, oaks, maples, hickories, box elder, intermingled among red spruce, Virginia pine and pitch pine, among others.

In my neck of the woods, Ivy Knob is also known simply as Bolt Mountain. I had been hearing explosions and was curious exactly where they were coming from. Now I know…

100_0168.JPG This is a mountaintop removal site in it’s infant stages. I’m standing on Bolt Mountain with the Ivy Knob fire tower on the ridge directly behind me. I had heard rumors concerning the acquisition of Peachtree Ridge Mining by Massey Energy. Looking at the evidence I would have to say it is so. Peachtree Ridge Mining was an underground mine recently bankrupt. That is what happens to the little guy when King Coal moves in.

It is very hard for me to keep my mouth shut concerning Don Blankenship - president and ceo of Massey Energy - undoubtedly the worst person to ever cross a West Virginia border. I would just absolutely love to see him cross the boundaries of my yard. I kept Donny boys title lower case because that barbarian will not get one ounce of respect from me.

In my somewhat humble opinion - we should scoop up all of Massey Energy assets along with Don Blankenship, everybody in charge at Walker Machinery, Governor Joe Manchin and all his little trolls, take them all to the border and drop them on the other side. Then change the sign over the border from Open For Business to Closed To Crooks And Lowlife” then slam the door. Wipe our hands clean of the lot of them. That will fix our problem.

Adding - I have to apologize I got a little silly in this post. What I should have said was kick Don Blankenship out and be done with it. Mr. Manchin is in Blankenship’s pants pocket so he will go automatically and the people at Walker Machinery are like all those little fish you see swimming with sharks and whales… they are just there for whatever scraps they can get and will naturally follow the shark. So kick out Don Blankenship and be done with the nonsense.

  3. Thanks for the Digg Brian :)

I have that link on the other site. I visit there from time to time. Same battle different front… :)

  4. Thanks Backwood drifter for letting us know about Bolt Mountain, the view form there is outrageous.
Great comments about donnie boy, we refer to him as “he who shall not be named” in our letters to the editor. All the news papers are afraid to print one word about him. They are afraid of getting sued by the evil one.

  5. That makes me even happier for a blog - I’ll hang all his dirty laundry right out there on the line.

As easily as the word terrorist is tossed around these days I think it is strange the name Don Blankenship is not used in conjunction with terrorist. He sure uses more explosives than terrorists. He does quite a bit of damage to mountains & communities - morally, physically and economically.

But then again that may have something to do with Bush support for King Coal.

I think we should have the ability to send someone into exile - send him to Antarctica… That probably wouldn’t be a good idea either just another environment for him to play God with and ultimately destroy.

Fortunately or unfortunately depending on how you look at it Blankenship is not God he is just another moron with a Hitler complex.
