A cool thing about a blog – you can make a prediction of future events and if they come true you can lead the I told you so back to the original prediction. If it doesn’t come true – it doesn’t matter because the prediction will be forgotten anyway.
I have a prediction. It has to do with Marsh Fork Elementary and Fairdale Elementary.
Fairdale school is planning a remodeling and expansion sometime in the near future. I’m not exactly sure of the timetable but I believe they are going to start after the school year ends this year. Since Marsh Fork is so controversial do to the coal processing plant and sludge impoundment nearby – they will shut the school down and move the kids to the new Fairdale school which is about fifteen miles from Marsh Fork.
As far as keeping Marsh Fork kids safe – I think it is a wonderful thing. Get them out of there no matter how it has to be done. What I won’t like about it – it will be my tax dollars doing what Massey Energy should have done a long time ago. Further prediction – once the school is empty it will get burned down mysteriously just like the high school and then Massey will get their grubby paws on it for little of nothing. Of course we couldn’t use the building for any type of community center because of the coal dust. There will be a day when someone says those words publicly all the while forgetting they said the kids were safe.
Since I’m pretty confident in this prediction I can also predict a few future posts. The one about the remodeling and expansion starting, the one about the kids moving, the one about the old school being condemned, the one about the school getting torched, and then of course the one about Massey Energy’s bright new plan for another piece of land located right beside Big Coal River. We all know how Massey Energy and water get along.
These are my predictions and I’m sticking to them.

That sounds about right. And Massey will probably sign on as case partners and buy playground equipment for the school or something so they can look like they really care about the community.
