I just wanted to pop in here and let anybody interested know how Samson is doing.

In a word, he is doing great. He is growing like a weed and has this obvious vendetta against my shoe strings. Any doubt about his well being left just a couple of days after bringing him home. One way that I can tell the intelligence of a puppy is how quick they are to learn. I keep Samson in the house and he is already house-trained. Which is a good thing because I’m a little bit of a stickler for a clean house. I won’t know for sure until he gets a little older but I detect some Border Collie in him. Only time will tell. For now I’m just happy I brought him home from the mountains.

He’s adorable! He certainly does seem to have something against your shoelaces. I’m so glad you found him. He deserves a good home and you deserve to have another good dog as a companion.

He sure is growing like a weed. I was going to say he looks like he has some border collie in him, very smart dogs and well behaved. I can’t wait to meet him. I think you might be well advised to pick up an extra pair of tennis shoes, those little boogers can rip through a shoe in no time……trust me. Glad to see both of you are doing well.

Thanks Kristine
Dennie the well behaved part goes along with leaving my shoes alone. He has Sam’s old toys so my shoes are basically off limits. This photo is an exception to the rule.

I love the picture of Samson. Dogs are great companions to look after us. He looks so teachable…;)

I thought I’d go ahead and post another update in this comment. Samson is still doing great and is right in the middle of the he is going to chew on everything phase.
With the way he has been acting lately I’m thinking he wasn’t even six weeks old when we found him. He has since turned into a full blooded puppy determined to investigate and then destroy with teeth, if possible, anything he comes across. He’s learning in one way by knowing my shoes are off limits but he seems to be under the impression that visitors shoes are fair game. Mostly because everybody teases him and lets him untie their shoes for them. He’s extremely playful and so far I have not heard him bark. He has growled a lot but has not yet barked. That is another indication he was younger than six weeks. I’m not sure he realizes just yet he has the ability to bark. I think he tries sometimes but it comes out sounding like somebody stepped on his tail. I find that odd for such a big puppy and funny.
