No, I’m not out looking for ghosts. I did, however, purchase a couple of Ghost game scouting cameras. In the past 3 weeks I have seen five black bear. Four of those in one general area. I had been wanting to get some game cameras and with all the bear and bear sign I have been seeing I decided to go ahead and get the cameras.

I put them in the mountains last Thursday on what basically appeared to be an animal thoroughfare with plenty of bear, deer, and coyote tracks. I’m aching to see if I have gotten any good pictures. So I’m headed for the mountains in the morning. It is 44 miles round trip and takes a few hours to complete. I figured the best place to get some good animal photos was in the backwoods so I took the cameras as far as I could by ATV then hiked about a mile further.

On my way home that day I saw two Black Bear. They were together and one was a fairly large bear. I have high hopes of getting some really good photos. The cameras are located on an old strip mine shelf. A lot of the old strip mine shelves are now used by the gas company. The roads made by the gas company is how the animals pass from one area to the next. The cameras are set up about a mile from the end of one of those roads. They are on a narrow part of the shelf. If anything were using the road it would have to pass by both of the cameras in order to continue along the shelf. I guess we will see if I chose a good spot.

Regardless of the activity, one of the cameras I’m going to move to an even more secluded spot. I found an animal trail last year while ginsenging that was very well used. I’m going to take one of the cameras there and see what it is using the trail.

Hopefully I can put an area on my site for game camera photos. At any rate, I’m headed back to the mountains maybe for a couple of days. I’ll tell you about it when I get back, if there is anything to tell.
