Hibernation

Just in case anybody has wondered, the Backwoods Drifter is in hibernation.

During previous years my blogs took on a mundane non-directional aurora during winter months. In plain words – an outdoor blog isn’t very useful during hibernation. :)

I’m a cold baby. I get cold easy and I stay that way. So when the snow starts falling with the temperatures, I like to find some place warm and stay there.

With all of that being the way it is – I have been feeling bad about neglecting my outdoor blogs and hence the one or two readers that come with them.

Just recently I was given a newspaper from 1976 called the West Virginia Hillbilly. This particular paper is the Bicentennial edition and covers 200 years of West Virginia history. I am a Wv history buff so needless to say this paper kept me enthralled for hours. I think what I am going to do with this blog between now and warm weather is transcribe some of the more interesting stories to this blog.

From the indian wars to the rise and fall of Blennerhasset Island on the Ohio River – this will be an interesting journey and who knows, we may even learn a thing or two about ourselves.

The first few stories are going to be about our ancestors struggles in the wilds of Western Virginia. I’ll post the first one Monday.

Go out and pick yourself up some under armor, Heavy insulated clothing and some gauntlet gloves. I know your 4-wheeler will plow through any deep snow, so get out there and get some good winter photos.
Just messin with you Denny, glad to here from you. I’m looking forward to the stories. I’ve been holed up myself.
