Hard is…

Hurdles and roadblocks seem to be the more consistent theme over the past few weeks. I have been in a struggle with my ISP over poor practices on their part… in my opinion.

I haven’t written a That’s Just Stupid post in awhile and with my discontent with my ISP I thought this would be a great time for one.

Suddenlink Communications… I don’t know if their ridiculous commercials are showing anywhere else besides this area but regardless, I have been dying to say something about them.

Their new catch phrase or whatever the hell you want to call it is – Suddenlink “As easy as counting to one.” Although I think that is pretty stupid in and of itself, it is the commercials leading up to the catch phrase that have me searching for the remote every time one of their commercials comes on.

Hard is – petting a piranha. In this commercial a woman is supposed to be putting her hand down into a fish tank in an attempt to pet the ferocious piranha. Can anybody really be that stupid? Do people really even pet fish? If so, I have three that probably really feel neglected.

Hard is – land swimming. This ones shows two guys in swimming trunks jumping off their back deck in an attempt to swim in their lawn.

Hard is – indoor cattle herding. What can loosely be described as a cowboy in garb more suited for the rodeo clown is standing on a living room couch with a rope in one hand begging three cows to do who knows what. He apparently isn’t herding them but more likely just wants them out of the living room. “Come on guys,” he begs.

Hard is – pole vaulting with a hose. Picture a woman attempting to pole vault with a garden hose. She’s running down the lane holding the limp hose over her shoulder, dragging about twenty feet of garden hose behind her and obviously when she gets to the place she needs to jump, she just piles into a heap under the bar.

Hard is – hot-tubbing with sumo’s. Four or maybe five very large sumo wrestlers in a small hot-tub and one skinny guy trying to get in with them.

There are a few more but at the moment I can’t think of them.

It amazes me that a media outlet such as Suddenlink can do no better when making commercials for themselves. Obviously taking the cheapest route possible they have succeeded in producing what is without a doubt the dumbest commercials on television.

I think if we have to be bombarded with commercials and advertisements from every direction, a little bit more of an effort to make them bearable would go a long way toward selling their product which in this case is crappy service from an out-of-state corporation claiming to be local. I also think that to have only one cable company to choose from leaves most folks with no choice but to take their stupid crap. I’ve never been good at taking crap.

Suddenlink… go back to the drawing board with your commercials because the ones you are currently flooding the channels with takes the meaning of stupid to a whole new level.
